Sex is a natural, normal and enjoyable part of our lives, but sometimes it can become something that feels out of control, damaging and destructive. I provide an innovative treatment programme for sex addicts, based upon a range of therapeutic approaches which have been proven to work. Sex addiction is usually a maladjusted way of managing difficult emotions, and I help clients to understand why they are using sex in a compulsive manner, so that they can get to the bottom of their addiction. I work with them on a programme designed to stop harmful sexual behaviour and to redevelop a healthy relationship with sex.

As an experienced psychosexual and relationship therapist, I have worked with hundreds of clients struggling with sexual addiction and sexual dysfunction. My training includes an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy. I am a BACP Registered member and am also a supervisor.

Prior to the pandemic, I offered treatment programmes at my clinic in Harley Street, Central London, in Surrey, and online. As my practice has expanded to serve clients worldwide,  I am currently working exclusively online. This approach increases flexibility, cuts out travel time for clients, and allows therapy to continue during periods of physical absence. I am a qualified and experienced counsellor who specialises in the treatment of addiction-related issues. I am accredited by FDAP (Federation of Drug & Alcohol Practitioners) and also have a graduate diploma in psychology. I do not work with gambling addiction or eating disorders as there are better qualified therapists out there for those particular presenting issues. I am a psychotherapist and have been working in private practice since 1997.  I was also Head of the Counselling Service at St.George’s Tooting and was also school counsellor at Kings College School, Wimbledon.  I became increasingly aware of the problem of addiction to the internet, especially to pornography. This can start early, and, though my work is not exclusively with young people, my experience with this client group has increased my understanding of addictions of various kinds among adults.  I  undertook a training in Sex and Pornography Addiction  at the Laurel Centre in London in 2018 and am a member of ATSAC.

I believe the source of most addictive and compulsive processes originate in a disconnection from self and others. Engagement in addictive and compulsive behaviours further alienate and create shame. CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is the principle therapeutic approach I use but I will also introduce other counselling techniques as appropriate. The first counselling session can be daunting so I carefully tailor this meeting to ensure that clients feel as comfortable as possible. I will explain what they can expect and what will be expected of them. In this way they begin to take back control of their lives.

I am an ATSAC qualified therapist,  based just outside the town of Windsor in Berkshire.  I am able to provide one-to-one therapy, either face-to-face or online, working with people experiencing sex addiction.  I can also offer individual counselling for anyone affected by another person’s addiction.

Previously I have been a primary sex therapist at a private 12-Step residential rehabilitation clinic, located in Surrey.  I have also worked in Hong Kong with cross-addicted stimulant users/sex addicts and have a vast experience of working with sex addicts presenting with a wide range of compulsive behaviours.  Through years of both personal and professional experience of addiction/cross-addiction, I have gained the skills and knowledge to help both the person experiencing addiction and the family and friends affected by it.
