Diploma in Sex Addiction Counselling
(Accredited at level 5 by CPCAB and approved by COSRT for 72 hours of CPD)

The Accredited Diploma in Sex Addiction Counselling has been developed to provide counsellors, psychotherapists and addiction specialists with the tools to assess and treat sex addiction. Delegates will also gain the necessary skills to work with partners and support couples and families in recovery.The course is divided into three 4 day modules. Each module provides distinct skills for working with different levels of addiction and client groups. Attendance at all three modules is required to receive the Diploma, but Module 1 may be taken alone to provide basic introductory skills.
Module One – An introduction to working with Sex Addiction
This module provides all the skills required to understand, assess and treat sex addiction.
Module Two – Working with Complex Cases and Partners
In this module, you will explore how to work with cross-addiction, co-morbidity, paraphillias and offending. Training is also provided on working with partners and support couples.
Module Three – Advanced Skills
Focusing on developing advanced skills for working with people with sex addiction and maintaining their recovery. Skills taught include motivational interviewing, positive psychology, internalised other interviewing, EFT and sex therapy techniques.

Diploma in Working with Sex Addiction
This accredited course provides training for professionals to work with individuals and couples for whom sex addiction (sexual compulsivity) or porn addiction is an issue. Students will be given a comprehensive understanding of the various treatment options for working with sex addiction involving non-offending behaviour. A variety of teaching methods will be used, including teaching input, experiential work, role play and use of video.

Module 2: Understanding Sex Addiction – Attachment injuries, Traumatic experiences, Social and Environmental Influences, Neuroscientific evidence
Module 3: Recovery Principles and Treatment Programmes – Cycle of Addiction, Motivational Interviewing, Working with Shame Reduction
Module 4: Impact on Partner and Couples – Boundaries and collusions, Sequencing work with sex addicts and their partners, Support Strategies for partner
Module 5: Treatment & Trauma recovery – Internet Pornography, Cognitive Restructuring, CBT.
Module 6: Treatment and Maintenance – Mindfulness, Partner support, Work-Life Balance, Changing Lifestyles. Module 7: Relapse Prevention – Partner involvement, Couple work, Rebuilding trust, Group Work, Evaluating.
