I am a founder member of ATSAC and have been helping people recover from sexual anorexia, porn, sex and love addiction and sexually compulsive behaviour for over twenty-five years. I work online and in person in London.
My background, as an attachment-based psychotherapist, has helped me see the origins of these behaviours in developmental trauma and emotional abuse. I believe healing can occur in an atmosphere of understanding, compassion and respect of sexual orientation and gender preference, to help ease the shame and self-hatred in which this condition thrives. I am also a supervisor working with therapists and leaders of groups, treating sexually compulsive clients.
As my website http://www.londonsexaddictiontherapy.co.uk reflects, I’m an integrative, accredited psychosexual and relationship therapist with vast experience at working successfully with with all kinds of sexual compulsivity including issues around porn, escorts, with BDSM, fetish and illegal habits. I’m warm, down to earth, unshockable and have a lot ways to help you gain control of your triggers and work out what you want from love, sex and your life in general.
My qualifications include a PGDip in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy, an advanced diploma in couples therapy, a certificate in sex addiction and compulsivity and training in “alternative” sexualities with Pink Therapy. I’ve featured in publications including The Times, The Telegraph, The Daily Mail, The Sun and Men’s Health. I’ve also been a guest on LBC and Radio 4’s Women’s Hour.
I am a clinical counselling & health psychologist (CPsychol HCPC reg), a senior psychologist specialist in psychotherapy (ROPSIP), a senior accredited sexual & relationship therapist and supervisor (AccCOSRT UKCP reg), and a qualified sex addiction therapist and supervisor. I work within an integrative emotion-focused therapy framework with individuals and couples, and I am an EFT trainer and supervisor (isEFT cert).
As a leading expert on sex and porn addiction, I work with individuals struggling with compulsive sexual behaviours. I usually offer treatment programmes at my clinic in Harley Street, Central London, as well as providing online therapy. Please note that at the present time I am only working online.
Sex is a natural, normal and enjoyable part of our lives, but sometimes it can become something that feels out of control, damaging and destructive. Sometimes people find themselves addicted to porn, watching it for hours every day, and as a result their work and their relationships suffer. Others become addicted to having sex with strangers or with escorts. They find themselves spending huge amounts of money, putting themselves and their partners at risk of sexually transmitted diseases and damaging their relationships. When sex feels like it has become out of control, then it is time to seek help.
I provide an innovative treatment programme for sex addicts, based upon a range of therapeutic approaches which have been proven to work. Sex addiction is usually a maladjusted way of managing difficult emotions, and I help clients to understand why they are using sex in a compulsive manner, so that they can get to the bottom of their addiction. I work with them on a programme designed to stop harmful sexual behaviour and to redevelop a healthy relationship with sex.
As an experienced psychosexual and relationship therapist, I have worked with hundreds of clients struggling with sexual addiction and sexual dysfunction. My training includes an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy. I am a BACP Registered member and am also a supervisor.
I help individuals who struggle with compulsive sexual behaviour, or their partners.
I am a Senior Associate, Therapist and Trainer for a world-renowned Sex Addiction Clinic in the UK, helping individuals, and training other therapists.
I have been successfully helping individuals with their challenges in relationships for 14 years, and I have been trained to, and a have lot of experience helping people with compulsive sexual behaviour, and helping partners impacted by another’s sexual behaviour.
How I am Different?
I work in a way that is deeply empathetic and compassionate.
I love doing this work, holding hope for my clients when they are struggling, helping them understand themselves better, and sharing in their joy from their growth, freedom, and successes.
Help for Sex Addicts:
Maybe you are here because you have been found out?
Maybe you have tried unsuccessfully in the past to stop the sexual behaviour ?
Before it only caused you to feel bad about yourself…..
But now it is affecting someone else, someone you love, someone you don’t want to lose.
You don’t understand yourself, why, when you want to, you’ve struggled to stop.
Maybe it hasn’t got that far yet, but you fear what you’re doing is affecting your relationship,
Or maybe it is stopping getting into, or maintaining a relationship?
How do I help?
I provide a safe, supportive, non-judgemental place to start exploring how you got here, and how to change.
I help you understand what from your past and your present has contributed to your difficulties, discover what triggers you, and give you proven strategies to stop and stay stopped.
Because I have also helped partners, means I help you make sense of what you can do to help them, and rebuild trust in your relationship.
Help for Partners of Sex Addicts:
Nothing prepares you for the shock of discovering that the person you thought you knew so well has behaved in a way that is hurtful and distressing and sometimes bewildering.
You feel let down, betrayed, devastated, confused and angry.
How could the most important person in your life have done this?
You are wary of telling family or friends, as you cannot yet make sense of what has happened and you may not yet have decided what you are going to do.
You fear people close to you will judge you for what choices you make next, and you are not ready to decide what you are going to do.
Being the partner of a sex addict can be a tragically lonely place. Who can you tell? Who can you confide in?
How do I help?
You need support in the immediate aftermath of finding out about their acting out behaviours.
I provide a safe, nurturing place to share your feelings, be kindly and non-judgmentally supported,
I help you start to recover from the shock of what has happened, and get to grips with what you are dealing with and process what you are going to do.
I understand your pain, and because I have helped many people like your partner,
I can help you start to make sense of the bewildering maze they have got lost in.
