About Me

I work in private practice with individuals, couples and partners who may be dealing with the trauma of discovery, and associated issues such as childhood sexual abuse, relational difficulties, domestic violence, neglect, shame, emotional dysregulation and other complex life circumstances. I have an ISAT Diploma in Sex Addiction and am a registered therapist with (StopSO) the Specialist Treatment Organisation for the Prevention of Sexual Offending. I also deliver both in-house and bespoke training to clients on a range of issues concerning sexual offending, and deliver Compassion-Focused Risk Aware 121 Therapy Programmes for managing sexual risk, as well as clinical supervision for organisations working with this client group. Sex addiction and compulsivity group work is available through The Laurel Centre where I work as a clinical associate.

I am experienced in working with men who have committed sexual offenses, or are struggling with unwanted intrusive sexual thoughts towards children, and traumatised partners of those with offending behaviours. I work creatively and mindfully in a trauma-informed, compassion-focused way, meeting clients with compassion, understanding and warmth to provide a secure, non-judgemental and non-shaming space, helping them to make sense of, and stop, harmful sexual behaviours and move towards a positive recovery.

With all compulsions, people have to increase their behaviour to keep getting a ‘hit’. If you have concerns this may be you, or if you have been charged and need help to understand your behaviours and want to stop acting out, please contact me.

About Me

I offer a non-judgemental relationship in a safe and confidential environment where issues and concerns can be openly discussed. I am a registered psychotherapist, relationship and sex therapist with years of experience working in the NHS, in private practice and Relate.
Psychological therapy typically involves an assessment process where I seek to understand problems from the client’s perspective and how and why the particular difficulties evolved.
• My postgraduate training in counselling psychology is a research based perspective to therapy and integrates a number of theoretical models including cognitive & behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic (attachment theory), humanist or client centred therapy, existential therapy and neuropsychology.
Individual therapy may involve one, some or all of the above approaches. This may involve helping a person to understand who they are, how they behave and what they would like to change and how to make those changes
Psychosexual and Relationship therapy – Relationship therapy focuses on what each partner wants from and can give to each other without losing sight of the individual personality. This may include a variety of issues including understanding each other’s intimacy needs and improving communication. Psychosexual therapy focuses on any sexual concerns or problems that an individual or couple has without losing sight of the relationship. Psychosexual & relationship therapy is an integrative therapy.
EMDR (eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proved effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR is a set of standardised protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. To date, EMDR has helped many people of all ages relieve many types of psychological distress including compulsive behaviours and attachment distress.
