About Me

I am a Relate trained counsellor and sex therapist with over 18 years experience.  I specialise in helping those with problematic porn and sex addiction issues, including compulsive viewing of pornography, using chat lines, visiting prostitutes and escorts, exhibitionism, voyeurism, compulsive masturbation, fetishes, anonymous sex, telephone sex, sexting and viewing illegal images.

I provide a secure and non-judgmental, non-shaming space – somewhere that you can feel safe to explore feelings and identify the problems you are facing.

I work with clients whose sexual behaviour is affecting their personal, financial or work life, to make sense of their behaviour and the real impact it has on their lives.  I help clients put strategies in place to support their recovery.  Often it’s not stopping, but staying away that’s a huge challenge.

I also support couples to rebuild trust and communication, and when they are ready, help them re-introduce intimacy into their relationships.
Discovering that your partner’s sexual behaviour is out of control can be devastating and difficult to cope with alone.  I work with partners to help them understand and manage these difficult experiences.

About Me

About
I am a COSRT Accredited, ATSAC Qualified, UKCP, BACP and RELATE Registered Psychotherapist.  I have been facilitating relationships between people of various cultures in a professional environment since the early 1990’s. Relationships and sex are intriguing, hence my fascination with how these can be helped and enhanced. Sometimes if we feel disconnected, anxious or unhappy we may look for a swift  “pick-me up” which can quickly escalate out of control with unpleasant consequences on ourselves and our relationships with others. This may come in the form of compulsions around sex. Most of us have an inherent need to connect and relate, be accepted and valued emotionally, physically or otherwise, something essential to our survival no matter what our background. Sexual behaviours which spin out of control can have a detrimental effect on ourselves and how we connect with others.

How I can help
Having studied Relationship Therapy to a Master’s degree level with additional postgraduates in Psychosexual Therapy, Sex Addiction/Compulsivity Therapy and EMDR (Europe) Trauma Therapy, I have been part of one of the authorities in Relationship and Sex Therapy -RELATE. I have gathered valuable knowledge and experience in enabling couple and sexual relationships as well as guiding and helping to overcome  sexually compulsive behaviours (e.g. compulsive use of pornography, paid sex, fetishism etc) when these do not serve well. Where necessary I can help lessen the emotional load of trauma which often underlies current emotional difficulties.

I work in a deeply compassionate way, facilitating change through collaborative dialogue, exercises, explaining and educating, yielding a positive feedback loop where there is no judgement or stigma within a safe and contained environment. I can help both those entwined in out-of-control sexual behaviours as well as offer support, practical advice and tools to their partners. In order to provide the best of services, I strongly believe in keeping up to date with the latest research and newly emerging therapies, which I accomplish through attending over 100 hours of courses and seminars for continuous professional development per year.

You are welcome to a 30-minute free consultation so you can decide for yourself whether the services I offer resonate with your needs and how these may correlate to the issues you want to address. My intention is to provide you with information on the basis of which you may make your own informed decisions on what steps you wish to follow next.

About Me

I am an integrative psychotherapist, having gained an MA and an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy from Regent’s University London, I went on to study with Paula Hall at The Laurel Centre for a Diploma in Sex Addiction and Compulsivity.

I have worked for many years with individuals from the LGBTQ+ community, with GSRD (Gender, Sex and Relationship Diversity) issues which include; sex addiction and compulsive behaviours around pornography and BDSM/kink/fetish desires, as well as Chemsex and other drug related ‘out of control’ behaviours. Many aspects of these behaviours involve online, app-based and club scene related activities, as well as, issues around private chill-out events.  More information can be found on my website http://www.lgbtplus.co.uk

Chemsex is a complex issue and one that I consistently see affecting gay men within my private practice. As an integrative psychotherapist I work holistically with you, in a humanistic and relational way to connect with you, to understand what is behind these issues, as well as identifying coping strategies to help in the here and now. Methodologies include; Person Centred, CBT, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness.

I have also worked with male sex workers involved in escorting, online video/private subscription sites and studio pornography production, some of whom wish to leave the sex industry. Issues around self-esteem and self-worth, combined with excessive drug and alcohol use are common.

My work with SurvivorsUK involved working with men who had been sexually abused as children or raped as adults. Issues included, sex addiction and compulsivity, pornography, sexual orientation, self-harm, flashbacks and anger.

I am a registered member of UKCP and BACP.

Sessions can either be arranged in-person at my office in Belsize Park NW3 or via Zoom on a secure video link.

Help for Sex Addicts:
Maybe you are here because you have been found out?
Maybe you have tried unsuccessfully in the past to stop the sexual behaviour ?
Before it only caused you to feel bad about yourself…..

But now it is affecting someone else, someone you love, someone you don’t want to lose.
You don’t understand yourself, why, when you want to, you’ve struggled to stop.
Maybe it hasn’t got that far yet, but you fear what you’re doing is affecting your relationship,
Or maybe it is stopping getting into, or maintaining a relationship?

How do I help?

I provide a safe, supportive, non-judgemental place to start exploring how you got here, and how to change.

I help you understand what from your past and your present has contributed to your difficulties, discover what triggers you, and give you proven strategies to stop and stay stopped.

Because I have also helped partners, means I help you make sense of what you can do to help them, and rebuild trust in your relationship.

Help for Partners of Sex Addicts:
Nothing prepares you for the shock of discovering that the person you thought you knew so well has behaved in a way that is hurtful and distressing and sometimes bewildering.
You feel let down, betrayed, devastated, confused and angry.
How could the most important person in your life have done this?
You are wary of telling family or friends, as you cannot yet make sense of what has happened and you may not yet have decided what you are going to do.
You fear people close to you will judge you for what choices you make next, and you are not ready to decide what you are going to do.
Being the partner of a sex addict can be a tragically lonely place. Who can you tell? Who can you confide in?

How do I help?

You need support in the immediate aftermath of finding out about their acting out behaviours.
I provide a safe, nurturing place to share your feelings, be kindly and non-judgmentally supported,
I help you start to recover from the shock of what has happened, and get to grips with what you are dealing with and process what you are going to do.
I understand your pain, and because I have helped many people like your partner,
I can help you start to make sense of the bewildering maze they have got lost in.
